This monastery is not only one of the most significant places to visit in Kiev, but it’s also one of the most sacred places for all Orthodox Christians, which makes it a great place to learn about Eastern Christianity. Lavra means 'monastery' and Pechersk is a name derived from 'pechery', meaning 'caves'. It is the oldest Orthodox monastery in Ukraine, which has attracted thousands of pilgrims and many monks. Nowadays, it is a UNESCO heritage with lots of tourists visiting.
The caves are small and narrow, stretching several hundred meters and up to 20 meters underground. Aside from the ancient tunnels, we also offer visiting the unique exhibition of micro miniatures, where you will see an artificial rose inside of human hair, a common flea with golden shoes on it, and many other interesting items.
Inclusions: English-speaking guide and entrance fees.
