According to the World Jewish Congress, the Jews of Ukraine constitute the third largest Jewish community in Europe and the fifth largest in the world, and around half of them live in Kiev which history is tightly connected to the history of the local Jewish community. Golda Meir, Vladimir Horowitz, Sholem Aleichem, Joseph Trumpeldor – this is just a small list of prominent Jewish people who were born or lived in Kiev, and during our tour, you will hear their stories.
You will also learn about the life of the local Jewish community during the uneasy period of the Russian Empire when the Jewish population was subjected to persecution and humiliation but made make immense contribution to the development of our culture.
