The Carpathian Mountains are one of the most beautiful natural areas in Eastern Europe and a popular destination for nature lovers and outdoor enthusiasts.
We offer this trip from Ivano-Frankivsk to spend two days in the most beautiful and known attractions of the region.
Day 1: Meeting in Ivano-Frankivsk.
Drive to Dora. See the Studite Monastery of Saint Elijah with its famous wooden iconostasis.
Yaremche will be the next stop. Visiting the craft market where you can see and buy the best examples of local crafts: wood, skin, ceramics, etc. See the famous “Hutsulshchyna” restaurant and Probiy waterfall near the craft market. Time for rest and for lunch.
Trip to Vorokhta. Visiting the local church of the 17th century built without any nails and the long stone arch bridge built during the Austro-Hungarian Empire.
Drive to Verkhovyna. Visiting the museum of local musical instruments. This is a private museum established by Roman Kumlik. He has been collecting materials, like household utensils, antique Hutsul clothing, tools, coins from different times, and many other things, that depict the Hutsul life for, over 30 years. The owner is especially proud of his collection of musical instruments.
After it, we will have dinner with local dishes (Hutsul cuisine) and overnight in Verkhovyna. It will be a local lodge for the people who desire to immerse in a world of authentic creativity and the Hutsul way of life.
Day 2: Breakfast in Verkhovyna.
Next stop Kryvorivnya. See the heart of Hutsul traditions. It’s absolutely stunning place in the Carpathians. Visiting the wooden Hutsul church of the Nativity of the Most Holy Mother of God (18th century) and Hutsul Grazhda (national Hutsul house-fortress).
Trip to Kosiv, a Mecca for folk art fans. Visiting the famous Kosiv craft market (on Saturdays), the Museum of Folk Art and Hutsulshchyna Life, and the Museum of Liberation Struggle of the Carpathian Region.
Drive to Kolomyya, the soul of the Carpathians. The city was founded in the 4th cent. In old times it was famous as a commercial and military center. Lunch in Kolomyya. Visiting the Museum of Pysanka (Easter egg).
Drive back to Ivano-Frankivsk.
